Building Inspection & Permits:

All new building/structures including fences and pools must have obtain city zoning approval.

Please see the attached  CITY OF LONG GROVE ZONING APPLICATION

After you have received approval from the City, please check with the Scott County Building

Zoning Administration to obtain proper building permits and inspections, if required.

All new buildings that require city water/sewer/electrical hooks are subject to city

connections fees and inspection prior to meter installation. (Water: $400, Sewer $800,  $8.00 Per Electrical Foot)

YARDWASTE BAGS AND WEEKLY LARGE ITEM PICK 

To schedule a weekly one large item pick up, please email your name, address, and item to clerk@longgroveia.org by Wed at 12:00pm. You may set your items out by the curbside for Thursday pick up. NO ELECTRONICS/APPLIANCES or items larger than 50 pounds. 

For yardwaste pick up, please set your bags out along the curb Tuesday mornings.You may also set out brush in small bundles. You may set out your own bags and the city will include a charge of $1.00 per bag on your next utility bill. Or you may schedule a drop off or pick up of city yard bags: $1.50 per bag to be applied to your next bill.                            Iowa Announces COVID-19 Residential Utility Disruption Prevention Program 

Financial Assistance Available to Eligible Low-Income Iowans for COVID-19 Utility Disruption Prevention 

To be eligible to receive assistance, a residential electric, natural gas and/or water utility customer must have: 

  • A primary Iowa residence with active residential utility accounts, renters may apply as long as the utility account is in the applicant’s name; 
  • An unpaid utility bill balance or have previously entered into a payment plan with their utility provider;
  • An annual income that is 80% of the median family income, based on county and household size 
  • Experienced a COVID-19 loss of income (job loss, reduction in hours, reduction in pay) on or after March 17, 2020 that resulted in hardship in paying bills for electric, natural gas, and/or water utility service provided between March 17, 2020 and October 31, 2020. 

For a full list of eligibility requirements, additional information and to apply, visit iowahousingrecovery.com. Applications will be accepted between October 8, 2020, and November 20, 2020, or until funding is depleted, whichever comes first. Assistance will be awarded based on application completeness and eligibility in order received until all funds have been exhausted.
